Kosovo in Transition: the perspective of youth

I really don't like to give up my Saturdays for anything remotely work-related. However, I'm headed to Pristina later this morning so that I can give a presentation on a project I'm doing with one of my classes. I'm going to give my high school students digital cameras and task them with the job of taking photos to show how their lives are different from those of their parents. I'm very lucky to have received a grant from the government (many thanks the Americans among you who pay federal taxes!) to buy cameras and pay to have the photos printed and mounted. At the end of the project we'll have some kind of gallery showing of the students' work. None of the students know I'm doing this yet, though, because I haven't received the cameras (I ordered them, but it takes a while to get stuff here).

It's a project I'm excited about, so I don't mind giving up Saturday to speak about it in PowerPoint form.

I wonder if KFOR is still stopping passenger busses to check everyone's ID. It's not quite a day in Kosovo if I don't see some young soldier with a huge piece of weaponry hugged against his body.
