Culture Day

Today, November 3, is a national holiday in Japan: Culture Day. How does one celebrate? Well, in my case, I'll hit the yoga studio later this morning then truck on over to the Hiroshima Museum of Art to check out the 本を彩る美の歴史 exhibition (aka, the Beauty of Book Illustration and Decoration exhibit). There's a Gutenberg Bible on display along with other illuminated manuscripts. I love the shades of blue in use back then. If only the Tres Riches Heures would go on tour and come to Hiroshima! The blues of that particular book absolutely mesmerize me. (Click here for images of the TRH....it's luscious.)
