Kosovo by Bus

Yesterday I took the bus back down to Prizren from Pristina. It was a beautiful day. I decided to take a few photographs to show what Kosovo looks like out a bus window. One doesn't usually associate blue skies and fluffy white clouds with Kosovo, does one?

Not too far outside of Pristina there is plenty of building going on.

It seems like there's always new construction. Every time I go anywhere I notice more land being cleared or more buildings being built.

Many of the (unused) fields have standing water.

The pink house and the one that's second from the left are finished houses, but the other two are unfinished buildings. It's possible the owners are waiting for more money to continue building (it often happens that people build until the money runs out...when more is earned or arrives, the building resumes).

This mosque stands about a 1/2 hour outside of Pristina on the road to Prizren.

Part of the reason it takes so long to travel between Prizren and Pristina (2 hours for 74km/45mi) is because of all the "other" vehicles on the road like this mini-tractor. The horse-drawn carts tend to clog traffic as well.

From what I can gather, this is a fire station. You can kinda see that the fire engine to the left of the building has had its sides spray painted a very visible orange.

A country lane about 20 minutes outside of Prizren.

A random tractor shot.

In the background, mountains. In the foreground, heaps of trash.
