It was too rainy this morning to hike, so after a fine breakfast of cinnamony French toast, it was an urban stroll down to the cemeteries on 10th and Oak Streets. The only cemetery that was accessible was the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery (for which Nevada Historical Marker #79, Civil War Plot, gives a brief introduction to the cemetery). These two photos were taken with my Digital Harinezumi inside the cemetery, which is not a good place for dogs because there are tons of those plants with the little burrs (I pulled 3 from Skeena's paws before picking her up). I used to live quite close to these cemeteries (next to the Grand Army of the Republic sits the Knights of Pythias Cemetery and the Hebrew Cemetery) and would often wander through them. Word is that the Argenta Hall, Canada Hall, and Nye Hall conglomeration of UNR dormitories, which is a few blocks east of these cemeteries, all sit on old cemetery land.
