Prizren is now serviced by a city busses! I saw some whizzing around yesterday. They're these small, white busettes that could probably pack in about 40 people side-by-squished-side (it's good that they are small because some of the streets around here are pretty narrow and curvy and full of obstacles such as cars and pedestrians). I decided to flag one down yesterday to see where it would take me (there doesn't seem to be any kind of actual bus stops yet). I hopped on the number 13 down by the municipality building and it took me past my place, close to the German camp, and winded its way through a neighborhood I have only been into once or twice before dumping everyone off at the main bus station.
There were a handful of other riders (including a guy from the post office that never seems to receive the packages/letters sent to me), and everyone was pretty excited about the new bus system. It was a surprisingly festive group. Every time the bus slowed down, the guys sitting in the front would beckon to people outside to get on. Everyone was laughing and smiling and talking. It was fun.
The city hasn't put out bus route maps yet, so no one really knows where any of the busses go. I might explore further today. It's free to use the bus until January 2nd. However, no one could tell me how much the fare would be or how late the busses go. Supposedly there are 50 busses that run every 15 minutes along their routes.
It's a good thing.
