I unearthed this article published by the OSCE a few months back about the water supply problem in Kosovo:
Water Supply Issues in Kosovo
I do try not to be a spoilt American, but it's rough not to have running water in the house. I had water this morning for a shower, but there's nothing coming out of the spigot at the moment. I can't really cook at home because I can't clean the dishes sufficiently. I'm not adverse to sponge baths, but I haven't figured out a good system for washing my hair. There are no laundromats, so the dirty clothes will continue to pile up until I have enough pressure to run the washer. It takes 14 liters of water to completely fill up my toilet tank. Fortunately there is a lever I can use to stop the flushing so I can manage about 3 flushes per tank. The water outtages have no schedule so I can't plan my usage.
Think of me the next time you let your faucet run. I'd love to have the same luxury!
