The Call to Prayer from 30 Meters

I finally decided to search out the meaning of the call to prayer that's blasted at my apartment 5 times per day. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining (well, not exactly), but a girl oughtta know what she's being subjected to at five o'clock in the morning.

Currently, muslims are celebrating Ramadan. It seems to be a mixed bag. Some people are fasting during the day, and some aren't. It seems like everyone observes the bajram (celebration and feasting) and the end of the month, though (I think the bajram falls on September 30 and it's a country-wide holiday when even the busses don't run). I find it similar to Americans and church. Some go, some don't, but most people celebrate Christmas.
