Whirlwind

Sometimes the best things happen entirely by accident. Quite by chance, S and I have ended up in Granada, in southern Spain. By Saturday, we had decided that it was time to get out of Barcelona and head somewhere else (plus, our hostal was full and I couldn´t extend the booking). Where to go, though, we weren´t sure. After our cooking class we headed to the train station with the thought that we´d head up to either San Sebastian or Bilbao.

We got to the train station sometime around 4pm, found the tickets desk, and discovered that the only train to San Sebastian had left around noon. Unfazed, we took copies of each of the train schedules and sat down to see to where we could still catch a train. Our only choice: Granada. We took the overnight train down here and, so far, it´s been lovely. The weather is warm and sunny; our hostal room has a balcony; and yesterday I walked around the Alhambra.

Tonight we´re off to Madrid where we will probably hit the big musems like the Museo del Prado and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. The weather is supposed to be chilly and rainy: perfect for museums!
