Good Morning Prizren

It's Friday. That means that it's garbage day in my neighborhood. There is trash pick up along the main road every evening around 8pm, so during the week I can leave my black garbage bags on a street corner across from the mosque (we don't have any dumpsters in our 'hood). However, on Friday mornings, there's a tractor with trailer that lumbers through the neighborhood streets picking up garbage. The manner in which one sets out trash is, as most things in Kosovo, a loose affair. I package my trash neatly in black garbage bags. My neighbors, on the other hand, use whatever is handy. It's quite a different experience from Japan when my neighbors would come knock on my door with an offending item if my trash hadn't been sorted or put at the collection site correctly.
