Prizren, Kosovo: March 7, 2009

I haven't been doing too much with the camera lately. Yesterday was a nice day, so I grabbed the camera, went for a walk, and took a few photos.

There is a small tv repair shop just down the street from me. If you look at the tv, you'll notice that it's wrapped up in a sheet for easy carrying. Not a bad idea to help protect the screen, I guess. It looks like the other tv on the right is being left out with the trash for pickup.

As I was walking down from the castle, I saw what looked to be a family packing up all their stuff and moving out of their house. It's not garbage. And if it were, there's a dumpster 10 feet to the left of the photo that is close enough for the trash to be walked to. I think they're moving.

The Orothodox Church in Prizren, as well as some other Orthodox sites around Kosovo, is now under the protection of the Kosovo Police Service (whereas before, private security firms provided security). However the church may be being protected, it is still firmly ensconced in barbed wire. This is one building I would love to go into.

Behind the Orthodox church, directly across the street, it looks as if the pink building is being cleaned out. I'm not sure though. Perhaps someone has just decided to pile a bunch of junk on that corner.

In the main Shatervan area, just by the Stone Bridge, TEB Bank has sponsored a new "Turistic Map of Prizren." It's pretty cool, actually. It is even lit up at night. I wonder, though, how long it will be before it gets defaced. On the map you can see the small mosque near my house that has been drawn to be much smaller than the voice that screeches out of it at 5:20 am (man, I am not looking forward to summer when the call-to-prayer is announced closer to 4 am). I swear, it's the loudest mosque in town.
