I was in Washington DC at the beginning of the week to take the foreign service oral exam, a rather brutal one-day interview. It's only one of many hoops one has to jump through to become a foreign service officer, but I think that it's the big hoop. I went. I participated. I didn't make the cutoff score (5.25 for the Public Affairs track). My score? 5.10. Just missed it. Am I disappointed? A little. Am I devestated? Not really. It finally made me face the fact that I don't think that I'm cut out for a desk job, regardless of the location of the desk.
What's next? I don't know, but I'm not worried. My immediate future has me going to Marshall's to look for tops. And then maybe to Savers.
