K's Travel Woes

Ugh. The worst thing about long-distance flying is when my itinerary gets all snafu'd at the beginning of my journey. Some weather-related funk caused my flight from Denver to Chicago to be delayed by an hour which caused me to miss my Vienna flight (although, to tell the truth, 90 minutes wouldn't have been enough time for me to make it anyways). So once I arrived in Chicago I waited in line for over an hour to speak with one of two United customer service reps who were trying to help tons of agitated, pissed off travellers. I did, however, meet a couple in line who had just done a cruise through Southeast Alaska and they absolutely loved it.

Needless to say, I now have to go through Frankfurt, which is 100%, totally and completely my least favorite airport. I don't like transferring through there at all. Then it's on to Vienna and, finally, Pristina. I'll only arrive 6 hours later than I was originally scheduled to. Those six extra hours put me at over 30-hours of travel time. Bleh.

So here I am sitting on the dirty floor in Chicago's O'Hare International airport tucked between a pillar, the wall, and one of those carts that drive people around because there's no place to plug my computer into that's either carpeted or seated. There also aren't many places to sit and eat (besides McDonald's or Chili's and the lines for both are waaaaay too long).

Oi. I wish I could have stayed in bed today!
