Walking to Struzhe

On Saturday I took a 9-hour walk up-and-back to Struzhe, about 10-12 kilometers out of Prizren. Struzhe has a kind of hostel that hikers can stay in overnight. It is possible to drive all the way up to it on a good dirt road (improvements on one of the routes into Dragash). However, since I don't have a car, I made a day walking out of it. It wasn't exactly hiking as I followed the road the entire way. Luckily, there wasn't steady traffic because it was a hot day and every car that passed kicked up plumes of dust. The biggest problem was the KFOR vehicles. Because KFOR jeeps are in good shape and with decent tires, the drivers are able to drive faster than a 15+ year old Yugo with balding tires. There's a KFOR camp above Prizren and the road sees a fair amount of cars driving to-and-from the camp (I saw only one tank on Saturday, though). The hostel itself was pretty anticlimactic. I just needed a destination. There are plenty of areas around Prizren to explore. I am starting to more seriously consider buying a car.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

My walk took me above several villages.

This portion of the road is being widened.
