On the way up to Hobart Resevoir, overlooking Washoe Lake and the road Skeena and I walked up.
Yesterday Skeena and I did a hike I had not done before. We drove down to the south end of Washoe Valley, followed Hobart Road through the Lakeview development, parked the car, and started walking. Originally, I had intended on just going up to Hobart Resevoir and back (10.8 miles out-and-back and 2450 feet elevation gain). A woman I met at the resevoir suggested continuing on for a nice view of Marlette Lake and Lake Tahoe. Not having any other plans for the day, Skeena and I continued. We went all the way up until we looked over Marlette Lake (just a little ways after crossing the Tahoe Rim Trail), ate lunch, and then we turned around and walked back to the car. It was windy, and we spent a good portion of the hike just under the edge of a lenticular cloud, but it was a good with tremendous views of Washoe Lake, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe. Perhaps if I had timed it better, I would have run into my friend Turi who is currently working on hiking the entire Tahoe Rim Trail in segments.
