Bird Trauma

Man, it's been a trauma-filled day for the birds in our yard. When I let Skeena out earlier she beelined towards two birds in our flowers and actually caught one of them. I yelled at her and she dropped it, then she picked it up again. I yelled at her again and she went inside while the bird skittered under the back porch. When I let the dog out again she started poking around near the back door. Once I realized what she was looking at I put her back inside. Three recently-hatched birds were on the porch. Two were flailing around and one was already dead. In a bit of a panic I picked up the two live ones and called Ken and S to see if either had any ideas (neither picked up their phones). Then I looked online and discovered that the best thing to do was to fashion a nest, put the birds in it, and hope the parents came back to care for the little ones. That's what I've done. Skeena will be inside for a while so she can't eat them.
