I could never say it enough: I'm very fortunate to have a friend like S. I mean, who else would say to me, "I'm taking some time off in April. Do you want to go to Spain with me?" How could I say no to that?
I had high expectations of myself after I came back from Japan. I thought I'd be able to study a little Spanish, scope out excellent activities for us to enjoy, understand the best ways for one to travel around the country...I did download Coffee Table (or maybe it was Coffee Talk) Spanish from iTunes (and listened to the first episode once five weeks ago); S has made a cooking school booking for us; and I've learned that one can travel by train throughout Spain. Oh, I made reservations for us in Barcelona our first three nights. Other than those preparations, we are footloose and fancy free.
Pyrenees? France? San Sebastian? The Guggenheim? Whatever we choose to do, we will eat well and have a wonderful time. Check back in about two weeks for the report.
(Hopefully I'll be able to post photos from my phone, but if not, I'll put some up when we return.)
