Good News for Deanie

My dad was released from the hospital today and is settling in nicely at my aunt's house. He sounded a little disappointed at not being around to receive his cod dinner tonight, but I'm sure he'll get over that minor blip shortly (especially since my aunt is whipping up turkey, squash, and sweet potatoes for his dinner plate). He won't have to go back to see the doctor until Friday (his birthday), and then, if he's feeling up to it, they may go play bingo.

One good thing that's come from my dad's heart attack is that I did my taxes for the first time ever. Ridiculous, I know, that a 30-something professional woman has never done her own taxes (can we say Daddy's Little Girl?). It wasn't super easy, but it wasn't too tough, either. I had to read the instructions for the 1040, like, five times, and I'm still not completely sure I filled out the 2555-EZ correctly, but the envelope has been sealed and I'll buy a stamp for it tomorrow.

S & I are having a let-someone-else-pour-our-wine dinner tonight at Pierino's (her neighborhood fave). I'm looking forward to seeing her. I've only seen her briefly since I've been back and that was to drive her and Scooby/Choo-Chee/Scofield down to the emergency vet (he had just gotten into a fight and is reportedly back to his old antics). I think B is joing us, which will be great, too, because I haven't seen him yet.

And then it will be back to the house to continue trying to worm my way into Skeena's good graces. I do this by getting up at 2:30 am to let her out, feeding her, and generally keeping her occupied during the day.
